memories : miniotics auditions

If any of you know me at all, you guys know that I’m a dancer. I love to dance. It’s a creative outlet that I can do whenever I hear a good song. I dance to Dubstep, Hip hop, Jazz, Contemp. Hell, I even dance to Big Time Rush, One Direction… well if you count dancing in my room and jumping like and idiot as “good dancing.” Generally all of my friends are dancers or at least enjoy the sport. Yes, dance is a sport. Don’t believe me? Take a look at my friend’s persuasive essay.

Anyway, today I decided to go to the Miniotics Auditions. Dumbo of Poreotics has a group of kids sixteen and under that he trains to compete in competitions (just to fill you in) and today he was holding auditions. One of my friends, Franklin, is already in said group.

Today I decided, “why the hell not, it’s my last chance.” So after school, I went with two of my friends to Anaheim and auditioned. It was a fun piece to learn. A lot of isolations and such, but it was a challenge. My dance teacher always says that the best dancers try everything, and I that’s what I did.

I don’t know if I’m going to make it. Hell, there were eight year olds that could hit better than me, but you know what? I had fun. I put myself out there and took a chance. Sure I probably shriveled up under Dumbo’s stare when it was my group up for audition. Either way, I had fun and that’s really what dance should be about, right?

Well… that’s my little story for today.

P.S. I thought I was going to fangirl. Dumbo is an amazing dancer and definitely an inspiration for me to try harder in the future.
