Today I woke up at the horrible hour of nine and hauled my ass to the shower. Although I'm tired now, doing so was worth it. I showered, ate some Hawaiian Bread, and then my mom and I were out the door. After picking up a sleepy almost-17-year-old Danielle, we were off to Downtown LA for Unique LA, an independent design show that features local artists!
On our way, we just chilled and listened to KOST 103.5. Got to love that Christmas music. When we got there, I was already dazzled by the amount of people that showed up, and even more so when we entered the actual show. We got a free cotton tote bag, which my mother lost, so even if we didn't buy anything, we left with a gift! There were so many vendors: shirt vendors, jewelry, soaps, cupcakes, posters, prints, all the joys for a indie child of today.
One of my favorite vendors was Stella and Bow. I may be a little bias because I found out about them from Logan Lerman's tweet, so I was on the hunt for them (and him). After passing through one half of the show, I found it! Their jewelry was so cute. The whistle on one of the necklaces even worked! I talked to the girl behind the table, and Danielle kept playing with the Shelley necklace, a necklace with a magnifying glass. We joked around and she was super nice! I came back later with my mom. I kept oogling one of the lockets, and my mom decided to buy it as a christmas gift! Love you, mom!
When I got home and looked up Stella and Bow's website... I found out that the girl I was talking to was Logan Lerman's sister. -dies a little on the inside- I also found out that the necklace was originally $60. This is the good thing about buying it straight from the source, cheaper prices!

Lindsey and LoganThere were so many vendors there, it was amazing. I'm sad that I didn't manage to pick up all the of the business cards of the vendors I liked. There were so many, it was so hard to remember the names! I did manage to pick up a few such as Unicorn Crafts, Mae Mae Jewelry, Urban Octopus, and a few more. All the things that were being sold was handmade, so it was understandable that the prices were so high. I'm still kicking myself for not buying those $5 necklaces I found! It was a whole store full. When I went to go look for it, I couldn't find it. Too many booths, too many people. It was crazy (but not as much as Saturday's show).

my business card haulI bought Danielle a really cool sketchbook. The covers were actually the covers from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish by Dr. Suess. Inside there were blank pages and pages from the actual book. I can't wait to see what Danielle draws in there. We actually went back to Stella and Bow, where Danielle purchased the magnifying glass necklace for her mom. We walked around and before we left, Danielle and I went to the Oh Snap! Photobooth where we took an awesome Christmas picture.

our christmas pictureMy mom started to get hungry, so after entering a contest, we left and found an El Pollo Loco to eat at. I forgot that they had mac & cheese side dishes, so I basically munched on five tortillas the whole time. We walked back and headed to the car. It was there I found out that we were about a mile away from Angel's Knoll, the park where the bench from (500) Days of Summer is located. On the way to the park, we spotted a movie being filmed. (We all wondered why there were so many men and women in business suits on a Sunday) and a photoshoot in the middle of a street. That's LA's fashion district for you! In the end, we decided not to look for parking, so we just left.
Our final stop of the day was the IKEA in West Covina to pick me up a new desk so I have more room to work. I got a simple desk, where each of the table legs are a different color. Ha. Sounds like me, right? Danielle bought herself a shark plush, then we dropped her home, ending her pre-birthday celebration. It was a fun day and I can't wait to be able to wear that locket after Christmas!
Next week, I'm hopefully going to Old Town Pasadena with my friend, Christine! Fun times ahead...
OH THAT NOTE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIELLE, YOU ARE AN AMAZING GIRL THAT I BASICALLY CONSIDER MY SISTER. YOU ARE THE DEMI TO MY SELENA. I LOVE YOU.
